Roy Ferguson submitted a planning application in April 2011 and the project gained planning consent in November of the same year. Following the initial consent there was a requirement as a result of changes in market and site conditions to increase the height of the wind turbine from 110m to 126.5m tip height. Increases in cumulative activity in the area meant that the new application was deemed an EIA development. Roy submitted a new planning application and an Environmental Statement in January 2013, with the application receiving consent later the same year. The turbine became operational in December 2014.
